I love summer. There’s nothing better than relaxing with family and friends on a patio and enjoying the sunshine, good food, and good company.
Whether it’s a summer afternoon spent poolside or an evening dinner party al fresco, the perfect summer cocktail is key. And yes, you CAN make room for your favorite summertime beverage in your healthy diet!
In our Clean Summer Cocktail series, we’ll take your favorite libations and clean them up. We’ll minimize the collateral damage from artificial flavors, chemicals, and excessive sugars, and we’ll maximize the nutrient content (yes, nutrients in cocktails!) with fresh, natural ingredients.
This is the first in our Clean Summer Cocktail series . . . the “Clean” Strawberry Daiquiri.
Daiquiris, in particular, are laden with added sugars and chemicals. They’re usually made with rum and a syrupy-sweet mix that comes in a bottle. Swapping out the big-bottle mixes for fresh strawberries and fresh lime juice isn’t only better for you, but the higher quality makes for a delish summer refreshment!
The "Clean" Strawberry Daiquiri
INGREDIENTS:
¼ cup white rum
2 cups or 1 pint of strawberries
2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lime juice
2 cups of ice
DIRECTIONS:
Everything goes in the blender until it’s frothy. Enjoy!
Serves 2.
